Hanna's Secret Season 1

Hanna’s Secret: MOM!

Season 1, Episode 2

revision 2

A few days had passed and Hanna had her campsite setup and decorated. She had windsocks flying, solar yard lights out, and a “Love Is Love” flag gently waving in the wind. Her colorful yard rugs were laid out and she had a cozy little sitting area where she had an unobstructed view of her surroundings.

The resort wasn’t particularly large, but it was active enough to keep it interesting. From her site near the back of the campground, she could see most of what was going on in the resort including the RVs that were coming and going. Also, her spot was good for people watching and that was one of her favorite past times. She could sit for hours just watching all the resort “drama.”

Hanna was trying to lay low and planned to spend most of her time hanging out at the resort. There was a nice-looking pool and with warmer weather coming she was looking forward to spending some time in the sun. She hadn’t done any exploring of the nearby attractions and hadn’t ventured into Washington, DC although she fully intended to visit some of the many museums downtown.

Hanna was sitting outside with her knees pulled up against her chest as her short summer dress bunched up in her lap. Her long, curly, purple hair was pulled up in a ponytail as she relaxed in the warm spring air. She was almost dozing off when a woman walked up to her and said, “Hello. I don’t mean to interrupt, but I wanted to introduce myself. I’m Lucy. I’m in the 5th wheel across from you.” She pointed in the direction of her RV.

“Hi Lucy. You’re not interrupting. I was just enjoying this warm weather. I’m Hanna,” she said as she stood up to greet Lucy.

Lucy was older than Hanna and appeared to be a bit haggard. She wore no makeup and her clothes were not outright dirty, but not particularly clean either. She had a hard chiseled face that gave her a bit of an exotic look that was a touch masculine. Lucy was a fast talker that initially put Hanna off. She joined Hanna in her sitting area and the two women talked about nothing for a few minutes. Then she said, “Actually, I stopped by because I have an ulterior motive.” She paused and looked back towards her RV. When she was satisfied they were alone, she continued, “I stopped by because my daughter, Brianna, is mesmerized by you. We’ve seen other women RVing by themself of course, but no one as young as you driving such a big rig. She really wants to meet you but is too embarrassed.”

Hanna was a little taken aback by this and said, “What? Okay. I’ve seen her, I think. Tell her to just come on over and say hi.”

“I’ve told her that. I told her to stop being silly and come over and introduce herself, but she won’t do it. She doesn’t have anyone here to hang out with … except her brother. And you and her seem similar in age and I was hoping that maybe you could introduce yourself to her. She’s really not that shy. I don’t know why she’s being so ridiculous.”

A little later Hanna could see Lucy and Brianna walking up the road toward her. It warmed her heart seeing them holding hands while they talked and slowly walked in her direction. They appeared to have a close relationship. As they got closer, she walked to the road to greet them.

“Hello neighbors,” Hanna said.

“Hello Hanna,” Lucy said while Brianna looked on. “This is my daughter Brianna.”

“Hi Brianna,” Hanna said.

“Bri. Everyone calls me Bri,” Brianna said to Hanna.

“Bri. I like it. Would you guys like to come over and visit?”

“I’ve got some chores that I have to get done, but my shy daughter here has been dying to meet you,” Lucy said.

Brianna could feel her face turning red as she realized what her mother had just said. With eyes wide and mouth agape, she couldn’t hide her embarrassment. She turned toward her mother and said,

“MOM!”
